Galápagos & Amazon Photography Adventure

Embark on an immersive photography journey through Ecuador’s most extraordinary landscapes, beginning in the historic city of Quito before venturing deep into the heart of the Amazon rainforest and continuing on to the world-renowned Galápagos Islands. In the Amazon, travel by canoe along the Napo River, explore pristine jungle trails, and experience the rainforest from above at canopy towers, offering incredible opportunities to photograph vibrant birdlife, monkeys, giant otters, and countless other species in one of the most biodiverse regions on Earth. The adventure continues in the Galápagos aboard a comfortable expedition yacht, where daily guided excursions bring you face-to-face with iconic wildlife including marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, sea lions, and more, alongside optional snorkeling and kayaking experiences. With expert naturalist guides, thoughtfully curated accommodations, and seamless logistics throughout, this journey is designed to maximize both wildlife encounters and photographic opportunities while ensuring a comfortable and enriching travel experience from start to finish.

Sunday, June 15th
Arrive in Quito, Ecuador. After clearing customs and immigration, you will be met at the airport and transferred to your hotel, where you will be assisted with check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Holiday Inn Quito Airport.

Monday, June 16th
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your flight to Coca. Upon arrival, begin your journey into the Amazon with a motorized canoe ride along the Napo River, followed by a scenic paddle canoe transfer to the lodge. Enjoy wildlife viewing along the way and settle into your accommodations at Napo Wildlife Center. Afternoon and evening activities include rainforest exploration and optional night excursions.

Tuesday, June 17th
Explore the Amazon rainforest with an early visit to the canopy tower for panoramic views and exceptional bird photography opportunities. Return to the lodge for lunch, followed by guided forest walks and canoe excursions to spot monkeys, birds, and giant otters.

Wednesday, June 18th
Early morning excursion to observe parrots, macaws, and parakeets at a clay lick. Later, visit a local community to learn about life in the rainforest. Continue exploring forest trails and enjoy more wildlife viewing opportunities throughout the day.

Thursday, June 19th
Morning hike through terra firme and swamp forest in search of diverse wildlife, including monkeys and sloths. Afternoon canoe exploration offers additional chances to photograph unique species in their natural habitat. Evening at leisure at the lodge.

Friday, June 20th
Depart the Amazon with an early canoe transfer back to Coca for your return flight to Quito. Upon arrival, connect to your flight to Guayaquil, where you will be transferred to your hotel to begin the Galápagos portion of your journey.

Saturday, June 21st
Enjoy a day at leisure in Guayaquil.

Sunday, June 22nd
Fly from Guayaquil to the Galápagos Islands and board your expedition yacht. Settle into your cabin and begin your cruise with your first guided excursion.

Monday, June 23rd – Saturday, June 28th
Explore the Galápagos Islands with daily guided excursions led by expert naturalist guides. Experience close encounters with iconic wildlife, including marine iguanas, sea lions, and a variety of bird species. Optional activities such as snorkeling and kayaking are available, offering additional opportunities to experience the islands both above and below the water.

Sunday, June 29th
Disembark in the Galápagos and fly back to Guayaquil for your onward journey home.

Your Host

Ross Halleck provided the vision and passion behind Halleck Vineyard. He embarked upon his wine career unconventionally. He founded Halleck, Inc. in 1980 as one of the preeminent brand and marketing agencies in Silicon Valley.

Pursuing personal interests, Ross focused on both high technology and wine, maintaining offices in Palo Alto and Sebastopol, CA.

Companies such as HP, Apple, Beaulieu Vineyard, St. Supery Vineyards, Kendall-Jackson, Iron Horse Vineyards and Jordan Winery worked with Halleck to enhance their brands.

Ross moved to Sonoma County in 1991 with Jennifer to develop a Pinot Noir vineyard in the Sonoma Coast region. Once married, Ross and Jennifer dedicated their efforts in the vineyard to putting their future children through college. Planting in 1993, the first harvest was in 1999.

Now divorced, Ross and Jennifer and have redefined family, continuing to work harmoniously in the winery and in coaching their sons.

Ross shepherds the spirit of the earth into every glass of Halleck Vineyard wine. He brings business acumen and sensitivity, fueled by passion. He continues to drive the marketing of Halleck Vineyard, along with crafting the wines and hosting wine tastings at the Halleck Vineyard Estate.

Ross and Jennifer are the parents of three sons; he is now focused on his singular career of Halleck Vineyard.

  • Visitors indulge in a tasting experience at a renowned Sonoma winery, immersed in the scenic beauty of a picturesque vineyard. The winery showcases an impressive selection of wines, including exquisite Pinot Noirs, crafted from sustainably grown wine grapes sourced from single-vineyard sites. Guests can explore the diverse vintages and discover their passion for red wines in the inviting ambiance of the winery and its adjacent wine shop.
