2014 Kuleto Cuvee Case
2014 Hillside Cuvee Pinot Noir, Napa Valley
Deep ruby color with aromas of flowers and fruit
This wine is an anomaly. Who or why would make a Pinot Noir from the warm climes of Napa Valley? Halleck Vineyard sourced this fruit from our friend and Inner Circle member, Pat Kuleto. He planted at almost 1000 feet, high above Napa Valley overlooking lake Hennessey. He gave us this fruit to prove to himself a great wine could be made from his vineyard. As a vintner himself, he was never satisfied with his own efforts. He delivered the fruit personally and we called the pick.
We couldn't be happier with the results! It is markedly different than western Sonoma County Pinot Noir. The air is cool at night blowing up over the lake, producing beautiful fruit. The flavors are much more floral than Sonoma County wines. For the afficionado, this is a wine worth adding to your celler! It is pure Pinot, but brings in qualities unfound in our region. There is earth and delicate cherry notes, with lavendar and gentle spice. It's sophisticated and unique, with flavors that linger and delicate tanins to deliver a long-lasting wine.
