African Safari: Wine & Wildlife Expedition 2025

African Safari: Wine & Wildlife Expedition 2025

Sept. 16-26, 2025

Our adventure began in Johannesburg, where 16 of us gathered for dinner before heading to the Lesedi Cultural Center. We enjoyed a fantastic meal, wonderful entertainment, and a comfortable night's sleep in beautifully decorated huts.

The following day, we drove to a private reserve in South Africa. Upon arrival at our five-star lodge, we were immediately captivated by the wildlife. During our first meal on the deck, we watched elephants, zebras, birds, and crocodiles at the watering hole. From my bedroom's private deck, I even had the pleasure of observing more elephants bathing.

Prior to the trip, each guest or couple received a special wine suit case.  Up to 5 bottles of Halleck Vineyard wine was shipped to each couple who then checked the wine onto their flight, to be enjoyed later by all.

Each day, we embarked on jeep safaris, tracking lions, wildebeests, and giraffes. A group of lions cubs stole our hearts.  We paused for morning coffee and evening cocktails amidst the bush, always finding prime viewing spots thanks to our award-winning photographer and guide, Kevin, who also offered photography tips to those interested.

Evenings were spent dining at long tables in various picturesque locations around the lodge, with Halleck wines generously provided for everyone's enjoyment.  The food was spectacular.  I have never eaten so many different types of meat!

This trip truly wouldn't have been a tenth as wonderful without our amazing group. The friendships forged among Reis, Sherri, Selene, Ed, Chris, Karin, Randall, Tom, Bob, Sally, Harshit, Joe, Linda, Carmen, Eric, and Kevin will live in my heart forever.
